UPDATE, March 27, 2020: Due to the COVID-19 National Emergency, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway has moved practice, qualifying and the 2020 Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge to August 13-23. The IMS Museum is currently working with IMS, vendors and other external constituents to move our traditional “month of May” events to August, including the 2020 Indy 500 Corvette Pace Car Homecoming. We shared this communication (click here) with our Corvette Pace Car Homecoming constituents on March 26.
We will share more information as soon as possible; in the meantime, we thank you for your patience during this unprecedented time in our shared history.
Background on the annual Indy 500 Pace Car Homecoming: The event traditionally takes place over Crown Royal Armed Forces Qualifying weekend and is limited to the first 150 registered Corvettes. Indianapolis 500 Official Pace Cars (Corvettes, for 2020) or 500 Festival Corvette Event cars may qualify. The entry fee is $150, and individuals may enter additional cars for $75 each for any additional Indy 500 Corvette Pace Car or 500 Festival/Event Corvette registered by the same owner. Registrants traditionally receive two tickets for “Fast Friday” practice and Indianapolis 500 qualifying, plus a lap around the famed 2.5-mile IMS oval and an option to buy an exclusive event license plate (only 150 available) and additional hospitality.
Headquarters for the Chevy Corvette Homecoming is the south lot of the IMS Museum, located just inside the Gate 2 tunnel off 16th Street. The event is open to the public and free with the price of grounds admission for Indianapolis 500 practice and qualifications, featuring the all-star drivers of the NTT IndyCar Series.
